Training with the CLEVEDON FIRE BRIGADE.

2013_CG_FireTraining_800.jpg

High quality training was executed by the Coastguard Papakura and the Clevedon Fire brigade teams, entering a safe and calculated element of unknown?. Operating at night, and within the restricted channels was only the start of the exercise, and the overall evening. We launched our Rscue vessels from the Clevedon Cruising Club ramp and headed into our training area / exercise. Fighting a mock fire from onboard our vessels (Rescue 1 & 2) was something we have never considered before, and also managing the vessels dynamics with the rivers flowing current, and the impact of high powered fire hoses being operated by the fire brigade professionals. The exercise was very successful and both our teams gained valueable practicle training experience.

Coastguard Papakura is our unit, we value every crew and support member and their respected and very giving families for allowing our volunteers to perform their unpaid task of "Saving lives at Sea".

During the initial stages of joining our team, we will provide you great support, solid training, our knowledge, our experience, and our friendship. We will engage with you to ensure that every opportunity is available for you to achieve satisfaction, we will monitor your progress and hope that your expectations are met along the way.
Your second month with our team, we will know if our closely guarded philosophy for retention suits your attitude and personality. We will share with everyone our normally highly guarded and protected secret for retention...
"You want to be here, Not have to be here"
Balancing your time for Coastguard is not recommended to be a successful volunteer!. Our unit is very succesful at retaining its members due to the positive environment and attitude.
Coastguard is a team effort, Coastguard will not survive with lots of individuals, so we dont have any.

Family and paying your mortgage must take priority over everything else. We are very grateful for the time that they do commit to our organisation. We are part of a National organisation that provides WORLD CLASS search and rescue services unconditional. Our organisation provides the support and structure that allows our unit at ground level to do the business end. Just so their is no confusion! we are the UN-PAID PROFESSIONALS. We are all VOLUNTEERS at the coal face, so we want to maximise your experience by providing effective training and ongoing support so that you can learn and develop how to be an effective and safe Coastguard Search and Rescue crew member.
Our volunteers participate at three training nights a month for two and half hours to three hours each time.
Our base is at Wellington Park, Papakura.
(The South end of Takanini Straight, opposite Takanini Toyota dealership).
Our Coastguard environment is alcohol free, but, we do drink a lot of coffee.
.
(A coffee sponsor would be appreciated, but a sponsor for a replacement truck to tow our boat would be fantastic).
